Repair work to the A27 at Chichester was a challenging project fully completed in December 2014. Part of the works involved an auger bored 450mm gravity carrier pipe under the bypass. This had to be redesigned due to uncharted and unknown obstructions underground and
realigned with a linear change in direction. To accommodate this, a reception pit had to be excavated in the central reservation. In addition, the previously installed chambers on the north and south verges had be modified into launch pits.
