R&W wins ‘People Development’ Award

R&W’s winning entry focused on ‘The R&W Way’; a far reaching organisational strategy that is supported by all management and staff and is designed to drive development, promote the adoption and compliance to best practice and better manage all risks.

R&W was also a finalist in the ‘Health & Safety’ category of the Awards and its submission was based on related material.

“Over the past couple of years we have refined and implemented ‘The R&W Way’ as an innovative philosophy and approach to all aspects of our operation and as a way of differentiating us from our competitors,” stated Andy Theobald, R&W Civil Engineering’s Managing Director.

“We are delighted that this strategic approach has now resulted in us winning this award; recognition that we operate in a professional and safe manner and the importance we place on both our people and all those they come into contact with.  This Award builds on the Constructing Excellence ‘Innovation’ Award we picked up last year for our sustainable approach to waste management and in establishing a bespoke facility in Hampshire.  This latest success continues our award-winning spree as we have entered, been named finalists and ultimately won several awards over recent months for various aspects of our business.”

The Constructing Excellence Awards focus national attention on some of the most important issues within the construction sector and recognise the best companies, collaborations and projects; sharing best practice and inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results.  All winners are now put forward to the National Constructing Excellence Awards that take place in central London on the 17th November 2017.

“In this category we look for organisations that have really captured the full value of their human resource and campaign to attract new entrants into the industry,” explains Steve Hayman, Director, Cheesmur Building Contractors; Head Judge and sponsor of the People Development Award.  “Having developed a ‘Bananarama’ approach “it ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it!”  R&W has successfully managed to create an inclusive, caring environment which has resulted in a loyal and motivated workforce.”
